In autumn 2012, Polytan installed an athletics facility covering an area of around 7,000 square metres with the Polytan PUR surface in the Stade Edmard Lama. The stadium is in Rémire-Montjoly, a municipality in the metropolitan area of Cayenne, the capital city of French Guiana. With eight 400m lanes and nine straight lanes with IAAF Class 1 certification, the new facility not only offers local clubs optimal conditions for training and competitions but also allows international events with officially recognised records to be held. In spite of the narrow four-week time frame for the installation, the semi-elastic synthetic surface was laid in two different colours in the Stade Edmard Lama: a vibrant “rainbow blue” alternates with a lighter “sky blue” in a harmonious blend of colour. Two-tone circular tracks are by no means routine. Each lane has to be laid individually with extreme precision to ensure that no annoying seams or unevenness occur. The chosen shades of blue create a particularly attractive contrast to the rich green hues of the surrounding tropical forest.
