The Polytan SMART system consists of integrated timing gates, a sensor weighing only 15g, and proven diagnostic software from our partner Humotion. Alternatively, you can also use your own smartphone.
Polytan SMART timing gates are maintenance-free barriers that are permanently installed and secured in the ground using permanent magnets.
Unlike other systems, the measurements require no elaborate preparations, setups, or modifications.

Movements are directly captured with a powerful, lightweight sensor, and then analysed and evaluated by the diagnostics software. Results from the tests provide a comprehensive athletic profile that supports effective management of training and athlete workload. An athlete's sprinting ability is of crucial importance in many sports, especially in competition: with Polytan SMART, every distance can be recorded depending on the placement of the time gates. The diagnostics software not only provides you with precise time recording, but also other important running parameters such as step length, number and frequency.
The tapping test is a test to determine cyclical speed and is particularly suitable for identifying “speed talents”: The Diagnostic Sensor records the tapping frequency, i.e. the number of contacts with the ground per second, measured in Hertz; the tapping performance depends on coordination ability and individual strength, the number of ground contacts is also determined over 6 or 15 seconds.
An athlete's jumping ability provides information about the speed-strength capability of their leg muscles. In addition to other conditional characteristics such as endurance and strength, jumping power has a direct effect on performance. Polytan SMART offers 3 different standard jump variants - Drop Jump, Countermovement Jump, Squat Jump.
The Three Cone Drill (3CD) is one of the most common agility tests in American football and is used as part of player evaluation at the NFL Combine, but is suitable for all sports with high agility requirements, relatively short operating times and the need to maneuver in tight spaces.
The Arrowhead Agility Test (AAT) is a simple but effective test to assess an athlete's agility. Although it can be used for many team sports, it is most commonly used in soccer.
The Illinois Agility Test (IAT) is used to test an athlete's agility, i.e. their ability to change direction quickly: the athlete should start in an upright position and maneuver through the presented course at maximum speed. The test must be performed from both sides in order to fully assess the athlete's abilities.
The 5-10-5 shuttle, also known as the pro agility test, consists of rapid changes of direction in a linear plane and is usually used in soccer, American football, field hockey and many other sports.
The Custom Agility Test allows coaches and athletes to create their own tests. Either to adapt them as specifically as possible to the respective sport or to use known tests (e.g. 10-5 test) that are not integrated in SmarTracks Diagnostics. To create and perform such tests, certain guidelines must be followed.
