Always in motion
A contemporary school has completely different aspects to consider, compared with only 30 years ago: children start using social media at a young age, learning formats are being transformed by countless new possibilities and media literacy plays a central role. An excellent example of a successful concept is Königsbrunn Süd primary school in the Swabian district of Augsburg. Today, Königsbrunn has three primary schools, three secondary schools of varying tiers, and three special education schools.
Since its renovation in 2022, Königsbrunn Süd primary school offers pupils a wide variety of opportunities to learn without sitting still. The children can choose if they complete their work in the classroom or in the common room. Large windows between the classroom and the common room allow teachers to keep an eye on their class. On the whole, the children have lots of freedom.
Another emphasis of the school is interacting with modern media. Pupils learn in classrooms equipped with the latest tech, such as digital whiteboards, which provide an alternative learning approach alongside traditional teaching. The children learn problem-solving skills on tablets.
Even the outdoor areas, with a small but mighty school sports facility next to the gym, has been renovated to give pupils more opportunities to move. The multisport playing field features our durable PolyPlay S all-round surface, which is specially developed for playing fields and school sports facilities. Thanks to its smooth surface and excellent ball-playing properties, this bulk-coated, two-layered synthetic surface is ideal for ball sports in schools – in Königsbrunn, football and handball – as well as for a variety of other outdoor activities. PolyPlay S is water-permeable so the playing field dries very quickly and can therefore be used year-round in all weathers. It is evenly laid on a base layer, has a non-slip surface and demonstrates consistently good shock-absorption and deformation properties. Other benefits are its high wear-resistance and low maintenance. In Königsbrunn, 882 square metres of the surface have been installed in bright orange. At the top of the field, there is also a jumping pit and a high jump apparatus at the side.
On the opposite side is an athletics track featuring our Rekortan BS surface in sky blue, which forms a delightful contrast with the bold orange of the multisport playing field. This textured, coated synthetic surface is our cost-effective all-round solution for athletics, and is used in running tracks, run-up tracks and athletics facilities alike. The one in Königsbrunn has four lanes. Rekortan BS is characterised by a structured surface that is water-permeable for outdoor use, and enables quick and simple installation. With the modern sports facility, Königsbrunn Süd primary school is upholding a tradition of outstanding educational concepts in the town.
