Polytan LigaTurf RS+ at the Complexe Sportif de La Présidente, Béziers (France)
Train and play football on FIFA-level synthetic turf
The southern French town of Béziers is considered the country’s oldest urban settlement. It is located in the coastal plain of south-western Languedoc, just 14 km from the Mediterranean Sea. Over the last two centuries, the municipality – home to around 80,000 inhabitants today – has benefited from the Canal du Midi, which connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Atlantic Ocean and crosses the River Orb via bridge near Béziers.
Outside the densely built-up old town is the Complexe Sportif de La Présidente, Béziers’ sporting centre that covers over 130,000 square metres. Its centrepiece is the Stade Présidente athletics stadium, around which numerous playing and training fields are grouped. Throughout the grounds of this public sports facility, the city of Béziers offers a variety of different sports – from football, athletics and tennis to basketball and rugby, which is extremely popular in Béziers. After all, the Association Sportive de Béziers Hérault (AS Béziers) rugby club has won the French championship title eleven times so far.
One of the five playing and training fields was redesigned in 2021 and now features Polytan synthetic turf. We’ve laid the LigaTurf RS+, which is prized by professional and amateur players alike. It is particularly impressive as the rhombus-shaped design of the turf fibre, combined with ENTANGLEMENT technology, meets the high requirements for shock-absorption, ball-roll and ball-bounce behaviour in a playful manner, and over a very long lifespan. It is therefore no surprise that LigaTurf RS+ is still the world’s leading synthetic turf to achieve FIFA Quality Pro certifications. The BiColour design also visually conveys the impression of a natural lawn.
The synthetic turf pitch at the Complexe Sportif de La Présidente is used, among others, by the Union Sportive Béziers and AS Béziers football clubs, the latter not to be confused with the rugby club of the same name.
