No other sport enjoys greater popularity than football. Traditionally, football is played on natural grass, but for many years it has been played on artificial turf as well. For this team sport, characterised by dynamism, tactics, and speed, Polytan’s artificial turf systems offer perfect playing characteristics. Artificial turf is indispensable where space is scarce, such as training centres and municipal club facilities where numerous teams train on the same pitch. It is also a sustainable solution thanks to the limited resources needed for maintenance. The specific playing and running properties are achieved through a well-thought-out artificial turf structure and fibre geometry tailored to football. Additionally, the elastic base layer ensures optimal shock absorption, protecting players from injuries. The patented CoolPlus function reduces the temperature of the playing surface on hot summer days. As an experienced artificial turf manufacturer, we understand the importance of long turf lifespan and easy maintenance, especially in heavily used areas of the pitch. There are artificial turf systems filled with sand, or alternatively with sand and performance infill, as well as unfilled systems. Our Green Technology products are particularly environmentally friendly, made of up to 75% bio-based raw materials from sustainable agriculture and manufactured using a CO2-reduced process.

Technical structure
The systematic structure of Polytan football systems ensures a sport-functional and durable playing field. From the elastic layer through the turf fibres to the infill, every component is precisely coordinated. The elastic base layer (30–35 mm of recycled granulate + PU binders) provides constant cushioning and load-bearing capacity over decades. Different fibre types (smooth, textured or combined) ensure stability, ball control and durability. Optionally filled or unfilled systems adapt individually to the requirements of the location. The layers from bottom to top:
- Water-draining sub-base
- Elastic base layer 30–35 mm
- Artificial turf system with high-quality PE fibres (smooth/textured or combined)
- Choice between sand, performance infill or non-infill systems
