In spring 2025, the traditional soccer club Turbine Leipzig in the southern part of Germany's eighth-largest city was equipped with a new artificial turf pitch for football – and it is not only functional, but also a visual highlight: The colorful club logo has been precisely and durably incorporated directly into the edge of the playing surface. This allows the pitch to visibly convey the club's identity to the outside world and creates a distinctive playing field atmosphere. The entire construction project was carried out by SK Hermsdorf.
The artificial football turf system used was LigaTurf Cross GT zero – a particularly sustainable solution that is manufactured in a completely CO₂-neutral process. The innovative fiber structure combines smooth and textured filaments and forms the basis for a high-performance football turf with natural ball roll and high durability. The synthetic turf field was deliberately infilled with sand only – an economical and maintenance-friendly choice that still offers optimal training conditions.
Turbine Leipzig was founded in 1949 and now has around 600 members. The new artificial football turf is the sporting heart of the facility. The field is used particularly intensively by the club's five men's teams and all the youth teams, who train and play here regularly – ideal conditions for performance-oriented amateur soccer and lively youth development.
With the new LigaTurf Cross GT zero, Turbine Leipzig is not only technically and ecologically up to date, but also sends a clear visual statement with the club logo on the pitch: here, soccer is played with passion and identification.
