Refurbished sports complex with high-quality synthetic surfaces

Following the comprehensive refurbishment of the Schänzle outdoor sports facility in Constance, the city now benefits from a modern, publicly accessible sports complex that meets the requirements of school sports, club sports and recreational use alike. Centrally located within the Schänzle sports area, the athletics facility in Constance offers ideal conditions for training, competition and physical activity in an urban environment. The project was planned by Eberhard Landscape Architects from Constance, who structured the site with a clear focus on functionality, user needs and design quality.

As part of the refurbishment, the existing sports surfaces were completely renewed and equipped with high-performance, durable synthetic surfaces by Polytan. The running track was constructed using the premium Rekortan M track system in Chillirot, providing optimal force reduction, excellent traction and high durability. The synthetic running track therefore meets the requirements of modern athletics facilities and is suitable for both intensive training and school sports.

To clearly define the functional areas of the site, additional segments were installed using Rekortan AS GT in Resedagrün. The water-permeable multisport surface ensures consistent running characteristics and long-term safety under varying weather conditions.

The technical athletics facilities were also specifically modernised as part of the sports ground refurbishment in Constance.

The javelin runway was surfaced with Rekortan AS GT in Chillirot, while the long jump runway was finished in Rekortan AS GT in Sky Blue. The differentiated colour design improves orientation across the facility and supports safe, regulation-compliant use of the individual discipline areas.

Another key element of the project is the newly designed basketball court at the Schänzle outdoor sports facility. Here, the robust and low-maintenance PolyPlay S 20 in Sky Blue was installed. The seamless, water-permeable synthetic surface for basketball courts offers high slip resistance, excellent ball rebound characteristics and comfortable shock absorption, making it ideal for intensive use in public spaces.

With the successful refurbishment of the Schänzle sports ground in Constance, a future-oriented multisport facility has been created that combines functionality, safety and high-quality design. The installed Polytan sports surfaces stand for durable, sustainable solutions and underline the City of Constance’s commitment to high-quality sports infrastructure.
