Dual Certification in the Natural Paradise of Masuria

The town of Giżycko (formerly Lötzen) is part of the Polish administrative district of Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, located on Lake Niegocin. With a population of around 30,000, the town is a popular tourist destination in Poland, offering a wide range of water sports activities. The "White Fleet" based in the Ekomarina Port operates on the Great Masurian Lakes, while numerous sailing and houseboat captains explore the Masurian lake district from here. In Giżycko, sports are important not only on the water but also on land: To play football under adverse weather conditions, an airdome was built by Polytan's partner Panorama Obiekty Sportowe, a company specializing in the design and construction of sports facilities in the Polish market. The 115 x 74 m hall spans the playing field underneath and is made of two layers of material filled with air. This creates very comfortable conditions for sports and protects athletes from cold temperatures, as well as from rain and snow. The hall is part of a sports complex that serves as an Olympic training center. Our Polytan LigaTurf RS+ turf was installed there – appreciated by both professional and amateur athletes alike. This highly durable turf system was first proven to be the preferred surface for players during the Women's World Cup in Canada. The turf fiber meets all high standards for shock absorption, ball roll, and ball rebound behavior, even over a long playing duration.The field in Giżycko is not only the first artificial turf football field in an airdome in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship but also the second in Poland to have dual certification for football and rugby, recognized by FIFA and World Rugby. As a field with this dual certification inside an inflatable hall, it is unique in all of Europe.To meet the requirements of the two international associations, the length of the artificial turf filaments had to be precisely 60 mm. The 105 x 68 m field can be divided into four sections of 26 x 68 m each, separated by nets, and is mainly intended for training sessions.
