The new CISM track at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich was completed just in time for summer 2025. A CISM track is an internationally standardised military obstacle course consisting of 20 different obstacles over a distance of 500 metres. Soldiers and students must overcome the various obstacles under time pressure and with equipment in order to improve their physical performance. The abbreviation CISM stands for Conseil International du Sport Militaire (International Military Sports Council), which organises the competitions.
The obstacle course in Neubiberg near Munich was completely rebuilt and fitted with a PolyPlay S synthetic surface in rainbow blue. The bright blue, smooth surface provides a perfect contrast to the surrounding nature and offers ideal conditions for a strenuous workout. With different base layers depending on the height of the obstacle, the PolyPlay S surface provides the necessary cushioning and elasticity. The 20 different standardised obstacles, such as walls, ditches and nets, must usually be overcome in pairs, often with weapons and equipment. The CISM course is one of the disciplines in the military pentathlon, which also includes shooting, obstacle swimming, throwing and cross-country running.
