SV Rieden & SV Westheim: An artificial turf pitch as an investment in the future

Since the end of 2025, SV Rieden, together with SV Westheim and the municipality of Rosengarten, has had a modern artificial turf pitch featuring LigaTurf Cross R and a sand-cork infill. The project creates optimal training and playing conditions whilst also serving as an important hub for sport across the entire region.

When clubs invest in the future, the best projects often do not materialise overnight. This was certainly the case in Rosengarten. Work on finding a solution to modernise the sports facility had been ongoing for many years. Two existing natural grass pitches eventually gave rise to a joint project between SV Rieden, SV Westheim and the municipality of Rosengarten – a milestone for the clubs.

A challenging task

The implementation presented all those involved with particular challenges. The construction site was severely constrained by a regional road and an adjacent cycle path. At the same time, all requirements regarding pitch size, safety zones and run-off areas had to be met so that the pitch could be approved for official matches.

Through close collaboration between the clubs, the local council, planners and Polytan, the available space was utilised optimally and a sustainable solution was realised.

Why LigaTurf Cross R?

When selecting the artificial turf system, Polytan impressed with a coherent overall concept. In addition to its many years of experience, reference projects in the region were a decisive factor, giving those responsible a direct impression of the system’s quality and durability.

The system chosen was LigaTurf Cross R with sand and cork infill – a system that combines high durability with natural playing characteristics. The organic cork infill, together with the sand, ensures a comfortable feel underfoot and is highly popular with the players.

A pitch that comes alive

It is already clear today what added value the new facility offers the club and the local community. Every day after school, the pitch fills with children, teenagers and adults. In addition to regular training sessions, the facility is used by numerous recreational players who travel by bike or bus from the surrounding neighbourhoods.

The artificial turf pitch is therefore far more than just a sports facility – it has become a vibrant meeting place for the whole community and is strengthening club life in the long term.

Sustainable for future generations

With the new artificial turf pitch, SV Rieden – which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2028 – and SV Westheim have set the course for the future. The modern sports facility provides excellent training conditions all year round, strengthens youth development and offers the clubs long-term planning security.
