Opened in 1941, “Štadión pod Dubňom” in the northern Slovak city of Žilina is home to the top-tier football club “MŠK Žilina, a.s” and is considered one of the most beautiful sports venues in the country. Slovakia's national football team also hosts matches here. The stadium complies with UEFA Category 3 standards and has a seating capacity of over 11,313 covered seats, which can be expanded to 15,000 if needed. With six championship titles and an appearance in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League during the 2010/11 season, MŠK Žilina is the most successful Slovak football club since the turn of the millennium. As the club's success grew, the home stadium underwent continuous modernization: in 2009, the field was equipped with heating, and in the summer of 2016, the natural grass was replaced with an artificial turf system by Polytan, certified with “FIFA Quality pro.” The choice fell on a LigaTurf RS Pro CoolPlus system with a 35 mm thick elastic layer.
