Historic stadium ready for competitions again

Giaveno is a small municipality in the Piedmont region and part of the Italian metropolitan city of Turin. Its historical roots date back to Roman times. Not quite as old but still historic is the Stadio Antonio Torta with its adjacent grandstand. Currently, the athletics clubs Des Amis Group and La Salle Sports Union train here. To renovate the aging sports facility with its athletics track and an adjacent football pitch, the Italian Ministry of Sport allocated more than 1 million euros.With this investment, the sports offerings for the residents of Giaveno, especially young athletes, were to be improved. Until recently, regional competitions could not take place locally due to a lack of certification. Long journeys to event venues were the result.The old track at the Stadio Antonio Torta dated back to 1992 and was noticeably worn out. As part of the renovation, the old surface was removed, and the 400m athletics track was equipped with our professional sports surface Rekortan M in rainbow blue. It is combined with Rekortan M in red, for example, to mark the long jump track. Positions for shot put, discus, and javelin throwing were re-marked, and platforms for jumps and referees were added. Rekortan M is a cast coating surface, with visible top granules embedded. It is completely spike-suitable and impermeable to water.Since June 2019, athletes have been able to experience the benefits of the new track: Rekortan M offers excellent acceleration and high step elasticity. It also features outstanding damping properties, achieving top sports science metrics. The new track allows for record times without compromising athlete safety. Finally, official competitions can once again be held at the historic Stadio Antonio Torta.
