New Mindlestal sports park in the volcanic region of Hegau

Between Lake Constance and the Alpine panorama lies the municipality of Steißlingen, with a population of around 5,000, in the west of the Baden-Württemberg Alpine foothills. Nestled in the charming landscape of the Hegau volcanoes, the town boasts a new attraction: the Mindlestal sports park.

The future-oriented exercise centre in the sports park not only offers new opportunities for the local clubs TUS, FC and TC Steißlingen, but is also open to children, young people and active adults. The aim was to create a modern sports facility that would bring the entire community together. The result is impressive: in addition to tennis courts, an exercise park and a skate park, the mini playing field and the new multi-purpose court with its high-quality sports surface are the highlights ofthe new sports park.

From a red court to a modern multi-sport facility

Before the redesign, the sports facility consisted of a large court that had become increasingly in need of renovation over the years. The idea to upgrade the area and strengthen it as a modern centre for sports and exercise arose from the commitment of young people in Steißlingen as part of a youth participation programme.
From the outset, it was clear that the new facility should not only be a place for exercise, but also a place for people to meet – a place where citizens, especially children and young people, would enjoy gathering. In order to preserve the characteristic "red square" as a familiar symbol of the community, a colourful Polytan sports surface in Chillired was chosen. The new Mindlestal sports park thus combines tradition with a modern design approach (see also: Colourvariety in sports surfaces).

Polytan products meet all requirements

Polytan's PolyPlay S 20 sports surface was used to modernise the multi-purpose court. The product is ideal for all-weather use thanks to its excellent playing characteristics, high durability and high water permeability. The result is a versatile multi-sportsfield that offers optimal conditions for hockey, football and leisure activities, thus meeting the requirements of the community of Steißlingen.

Right next to the football pitch, Polytan has also installed a mini pitch that can be used all year round. Thanks to the durable and robust LigaGrass Synergy artificial turf and the integrated band system, it offers football-loving children and young people a popular meeting place and training venue. Thanks to the lighting system, the pitch can also be used intensively in the evenings and in winter.

The modern facility is rounded off by a calisthenics park, which stands out perfectly from the other areas thanks to the PolyPlay FS GT in Hertha blue. As classic fall protection, it is not only a visual highlight, but also protects against injuries, making it the ideal surface for strength, exercise and fun – in keeping with the trendy sport.

Positive response and use by all age groups

Since its completion, the sports park has been used much more than before. The new multifunctional court and mini playing field are particularly popular. The new sports areas complement the facility, which also includes a running track and a small hut as a meeting place for young people –a sign that the concept of youth participation remains alive even after completion.

Feedback from clubs and recreational athletes in there gion has been consistently positive: Polytan's installations offer the best conditions for year-round use and versatile training opportunities. The Mindlestal sports park has established itself as a modern place for exercise, socialising and community, impressively demonstrating how sustainable sports facilities can be reimagined and designed in a variety of ways.
