In early 2025, an exceptional sports project was completed in Le Chesnay-Rocquencourt, France: the basketball courts at the Pierre-Curvat sports hall were fully renovated. Designed by artist Corentin Cormerais and inspired by Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs, the new courts were delivered by a project team that included Polytan.
The result is a striking geometric design that blends the Spurs’ signature colors (grey, white and black) with local elements such as the iconic Rocquencourt clock and a symbolic star motif. A special highlight is the imprint of a dog’s paw – a tribute to Jill, the Wembanyama family’s pet.
For the athletic performance and durability of the surface, the Laykold Advantage acrylic system was selected – a versatile sports surface trusted worldwide and known as the official court surface of the US Open. With its robust texture, the wide color variety of Laykold systems and its sustainable material technology, Laykold is ideal for modern multi-sport facilities. Laykold acrylic surfaces also contribute to water consumption reduction, as they do not require irrigation unlike traditional sand courts. Their long service life and low-maintenance characteristics further reduce the need for resource-intensive renovation cycles.
With this project, Polytan has created an innovative and vibrant sports facility that brings together creativity, local identity and high-performance playability.
