Unique sports complex in the Greater Paris Region

Cergy-Pontoise is one of the so-called "Villes nouvelles," which were planned entirely on the drawing board to accommodate the enormous population growth in the Greater Paris area. Its development has been remarkably rapid: while only about 34,050 residents lived in the city at its founding in 1963, more than 200,000 were recorded 50 years later. The cityscape is characterized by the Axe Majeur, a roughly 4 km long visual axis linking the train station, marketplace, urban buildings, social housing in Renaissance style, and parks. Located here is the Complexe sports urbains de l'Axe majeur, an extensive sports facility with a gymnasium, swimming pool, and the Skatepark De Cergy. Additionally, it includes a long jump facility, four multisport courts for basketball and football, and a calisthenics area enclosed by an athletic track.

The track was renovated in 2020 and equipped with Rekortan M, the premium choice among our sports surfaces. Its striking Skyblue color alone is an eye-catcher. The seamless surface is waterproof and ideal for athletes wearing spiked shoes.

Of the four zones on the multisport court, one was equipped with our Laykold Advantage coating. Laykold Advantage is a high-quality acrylic coating suitable for tennis and multipurpose courts. It is a cost-effective solution for rejuvenating or repurposing playing surfaces made of asphalt or concrete, thereby extending their lifespan. Its proven quality and excellent playing characteristics, along with a perfectly even surface, make Laykold particularly appealing for basketball courts in urban areas like Cergy-Pontoise. Furthermore, it is among the leading surfaces for tennis events in the USA and Canada. Eight of the 13 most prestigious hard court tournaments, including the U.S. Open, are held on Laykold surfaces. The local basketball club, Cergy-Pontoise Basket Ball (CPBB), uses this facility for their training, including their youth and amateur teams. Some players from these teams have even advanced to the LNB Pro A, France's top professional league, and the national A-team.
