They call themselves "Black Venom" – Black Venom Wesseling, the American Football division of the Wesseling Gymnastics and Sports Association founded in 2017. Meanwhile, the division consists of a men's and U19 team, a U16 as well as a senior team, with a women's team also in consideration. The strong growth in Wesseling – located between Cologne and Bonn – is no coincidence, as American Football is becoming increasingly popular in Germany. This is partly due to the diverse physical requirements for each team position. An American Football team is comprised of very distinct "types": In addition to classic skills such as speed and endurance, it focuses on strength, stability, and assertiveness. Furthermore, tactical awareness and quick perception are crucial in American Football.Nearly 6,800 m² of our LigaGrass Pro with CoolPlus function in the pure sand-filled option, Polytan's professional textured turf system, were installed in Wesseling. It was laid on an unbound base layer in combination with an elastic base layer (ET). Benefits for American Football players include the extremely high fiber stability, which gives the turf even greater volume and structure. Contrary to the name Black Venom, however, the turf system in Wesseling is in a rich green, with the BiColour color design further enhancing the natural grass look. The field markings – the typical yard lines – shine in an intense yellow.Nearby, in graphite gray, the adjacent multifunctional field PolyPlay S stands out. Our durable all-round surface is primarily used on sports fields and facilities for school sports, ball games, and recreational activities. Thanks to its smooth surface and excellent ball rebound behavior, it is an ideal surface for various ball sports and numerous outdoor applications. Since PolyPlay S is water-permeable, the field dries quickly, allowing it to be used year-round as an all-weather facility. It is slip-resistant and impresses with high wear resistance and low maintenance requirements.

The sports complex in Wesseling is completed by a Rekortan M running track, used as a sprint lane and for long jump approaches. It enriches the color palette with a rich brick red and stands out with excellent acceleration and high step elasticity. Additionally, the surface is fast and excels with high damping and outstanding sports medical properties.
