Polytan Hockey Turf Powers the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026

The world’s best hockey players are set to compete on Polytanturf when the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 gets underway in Belgium and the Netherlands. At Belgium’s brand-new Belfius Hockey Arena in Wavre – the country’s new national stadium – Polytan, part of Sport Group, has just completed the installation of the high-performance Poligras hockey turf that will host half of the World Cup matches. The other half will unfold on the same surface at Amsterdam’s legendary Wagener Stadium.

Setting the Global Standard

For decades, Poligras has set the benchmark for elite hockey. Its surfaces have been chosen for ten FIH Hockey World Cups and multiple Olympic Games, including Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. The Poligras Paris GT Zero, developed for the Paris Olympics, made history as the world’s first hockey turf made with a CO₂-neutral manufacturing process, combining world-class performance with sustainable technology.

“Poligras continues to deliver exceptional quality and elevate the hockey experience for both players and fans,” said FIH President Tayyab Ikram, reflecting the federation’s long-standing trust in the surface.

Built on Experience, Driven by Innovation

Backed by more than 50 years of innovation in sports surface technology, Polytan has become a driving force in the evolution of modern hockey pitches. Over the years, the company has channelled its expertise in polymer science, turf engineering and installation into developing cutting-edge Poligras hockey systems that meet the highest international standards.

“Our focus has always been on progress,” explained Fred van Wijk, International Sales Director at Polytan. “Every new turf gets us closer to the perfect balance – less water, less carbon, and more performance. We’re proud to help shape the future of the sport.”

Made for Hockey – Made for the Future

From the first whistle to the final goal, every moment of the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 will be played on turf designed for champions. With innovation, sustainability and precision engineering at its core, Polytan hockey turf remains the surface where world-class hockey happens.

Neue Bahn, olympische Ambitionen
