In urban areas, sports facilities often compete with housing and infrastructure, while residents are sensitive to additional noise. Investments must therefore be economically viable, durable, and environmentally responsible. Solutions are needed that require little space, gain community acceptance, and are ecologically sound.
The PolyPlay Arena GT is a mini pitch arena with a modular perimeter system made from 100% recycled artificial turf, conserving resources while providing long-lasting fun. Developed by Polytan in collaboration with FormaTurf, it is designed for municipalities, clubs, and urban living spaces – transforming limited areas into places for activity and maximum enjoyment.

The base layer for perfect play is based on a subbase provided on-site in accordance with DIN 18035. On top of this – depending on the surface type – a Polytan elastic or base layer for artificial turf or synthetic surface is installed. This provides the required force reduction and protects joints in particular.
Compared to hard surfaces such as asphalt, concrete or clay, the soccer court or mini pitch offers significantly more comfort, a more pleasant running feel, and a "soft" landing in case of falls or fouls. The elastic construction ensures optimal force reduction, high enjoyment and a high-quality, long-lasting playing experience.
Our PolyPlay Arena GT uses particularly durable and versatile surface systems. Depending on requirements, textured artificial turf systems from the LigaGrass family or the all-round surfaces PolyPlay S and PolyPlay SE are used.
The robust surfaces are ideal for intensive football play and a variety of ball sports – whether on school grounds, club facilities, recreational areas or in public spaces. They impress with pleasant playing characteristics, good ball bounce behaviour and low maintenance requirements. Thanks to their water permeability, the pitches dry quickly and can be used year-round as all-weather surfaces.
The German Football Association (DFB) also relied on the quality of a textured Polytan artificial turf from the LigaGrass family as part of its project "1,000 Mini Pitches for Germany".
The innovative 1m high barrier of the PolyPlay Arena GT is made of recycled artificial turf, which is particularly noise-reducing and durable. On the goal sides, a 2m high net is additionally installed on each side. The playing field can easily be fully enclosed with side nets and a roof net construction. All equipment such as nets and goals is also available in a vandalism-resistant version. We are also happy to advise you on the possibilities of different floodlight systems for time-independent use of the court.
Our mini pitches (PolyPlay Arena Soccer Court) are available in the standard sizes 15 x 10 m, 20 x 13 m (DFB dimension), 30 x 15 m and 40 x 20 m. We are also happy to offer you a custom size tailored to your needs. Please contact us with your enquiry.
Mini pitches open up attractive opportunities for the effective placement of club badges as well as sponsor and partner logos. Whether on the barriers or integrated directly into the playing field – multicoloured designs on the artificial turf create eye-catching highlights. This is exactly the starting point for the PolyPlay Arena GT. Its innovative barrier system, using FormaTurf’s FlexBlock, significantly reduces ball-impact noise compared with conventional solutions, making the arena better suited to noise-sensitive locations. The result is a space that encourages activity while remaining considerate of its surroundings.

Old artificial turf pitches are often disposed of after their useful life, meaning valuable materials are lost from the cycle even though they still have potential. This is where FormaTurf’s FlexBlock introduces a new approach. From worn-out artificial turf, a barrier system made entirely from recycled material is created – a direct, visible contribution to a functioning circular economy.
The PolyPlay Arena GT not only encourages movement, but also rethinks resources. From a single artificial turf pitch, around nine standard courts in the 20 × 13 metre format can be created. Each individual court uses approximately 800 square metres of old artificial turf in its barrier elements.
Sustainability is therefore no longer an abstract promise – it becomes concrete, tangible, and measurable.

Our LigaGrass artificial turf and PolyPlay synthetic surfaces have proven themselves as key products over the years.
What began with the DFB campaign "1,000 Mini Pitches for Germany" launched in 2007 is today a unique success story. With around 100 mini pitches per year, Polytan is the largest and most successful provider of football courts and multi-courts.
