Football and hockey place different demands on an artificial turf system. The DualSport standards set out clear requirements for factors including ball roll, shock absorption, rotational resistance, surface regularity, drainage and durability.

Ball roll is a good example of the different requirements: for football, the ball must roll no more than 15 metres, while for hockey it must roll at least 7 metres. A DualSport pitch therefore needs to strike the right balance between the playing characteristics required by both sports.

The standards are aimed particularly at grassroots and club sport, as well as schools and universities.

More from one sports facility

A pitch is about much more than the playing surface. Land, sub-base, drainage, lighting and ongoing maintenance all contribute to the overall investment.
