Poligras Tokyo GT at the HCLG in Leipzig

Including club crest

“Leipzig calling!” This is the motto under which the Saxon metropolis is attracting visitors. As a centre of commerce, exhibitions and culture, it is considered a landmark of international standing. But Leipzig also has an excellent reputation as a city of sports. For example, the city can look back on a long footballing tradition and the German Football Association (DFB) was founded here in 1900.

With clubs such as ATV Leipzig 1845, Leipziger SC 1901 and HC Lindenau-Grünau (HCLG), field and indoor hockey is played at a high level in Leipzig. The HCLG has a hockey pitch and a sports hall, and in summer, training takes place on the artificial pitch in Leipzig-Grünau – it was the first artificial pitch to be installed in the new federal states in 1992. It has now been revamped. Our Poligras Tokyo GT system has been installed at the HCLG and not only offers outstanding playing characteristics but is also impressive from an ecological point of view.

Tokyo GT is a special development by Polytan with filaments that are partly made from renewable raw materials. At the same time, the even multi-directional surface is permanently stable and therefore allows games to be played dynamically and precisely. This hockey turf is also an excellent long-term choice – after all, it is particularly robust: it is hardly affected at all by either the weather or daily use. And from a visual perspective, the bright green playing field with its blue border is truly eye-catching. Another highlight: the club logo is integrated into the turf edging.

It was possible to revamp the artificial turf in Leipzig with the help of subsidies from the city and based on the budget passed by the Saxon state parliament. The Leipzig-based planning office GRÜNPLAN was responsible for planning the project. In addition to the new artificial turf, the grandstand was also renovated and this work was partly financed by a fundraising campaign. Currently, HCLG has over ten teams competing: ladies’ and men’s teams, seniors, parents’ fun teams as well as minis, children’s and youth teams for boys and girls from the age of 4. The club hosts its own cup – the “Owl Cup” for parent hockey teams and the name alludes to the club’s logo – and also offers a highly popular hockey camp for children.
